The Walk to a Ravine

Walked to the creek
Put branches down to cross the creek

Walk through the pasture, though Susan wasn’t concerned, I crept along behind her keeping a watchful eye on a bull

Walked some more

Climbed over a wobbly gate
Walked

Shimmied under a hot wire

Walked

We arrived at a ravine that was so peaceful. Literally there was not a noise.

You could feel the quiet.
It was one of those places I never wanted to leave.
The walk back was designed to keep me away from the bull….
I was so grateful....he was as big as a house!   Right?

I WANT THIS HORSE!!!  I NEED THIS HORSE!!!  I LOVE THIS HORSE!!!

Well, I would settle for taking a ride....or I could just look at him for hours.....
       Naw, I want to ride.
Do you think he knows that he has this effect on me, umm,  I mean on people?

G is for growing

In April I get restless.
…to get outside more
…to start new projects
…to see our robins return
…to see buds on trees
...to get in shape for summer.....however that discussion is for another day...maybe.
Since spring doesn’t always happen as quickly as I would like I start tomatoes inside. Sometimes it’s seeds that I saved from that perfect tomato I want to clone.
So as you see I planted 9 cells with two seeds each. They all germinated.
So now I have 18 plants + 1. One extra plant just appeared.
Do you know how much room I will need for 18 tomato plants?????
Realistically I only have room for maybe 4 …
I get so carried away sometimes.
I love this time of year!

Lean In~~Sheryl Sandberg

I am currently reading Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. She is the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook and has held a couple other impressive jobs…and that’s putting it mildly. Her perspective is so interesting and thought provoking and can apply to such a wide range of women of all ages and walks of life. Small scale or big scale I feel we all need to walk through those open doors and quit over thinking what’s on the other side. I, for one, forget that if we walk through and don’t care for what’s over there we usually can go back to what it was before or something pretty darn close. If not….reinvent yourself. Trust me I know how easy it is to say that but hard to actually follow through but I encourage you to try it……it might become one of the best things you ever did.
“ So please ask yourself: What would I do I weren’t afraid? And then go do it.”
For me it was to write this blog….really…..

DYI Mini Gift Card

This is a favorite project of mine. I use a sheet of scrapbooking paper for the envelope portion and then I use card weight paper to print the verse and picture in the middle. Use a glue stick to hold it in place and voila! You can tie it shut but the petals will also fold in on itself too.

Punch a small hole in the corner, if you want and tie it on your gift with some bakers twine or ribbon.
Quick and easy project!

History Question

I heard this question posed yesterday on an interview and my initial thought was well that's not a difficult question. Which it isn't because most of us probably could come up with something quickly. But when I stopped for a moment to think about it...true to form... I thought of so many things. I love history and to be able to witness those remarkable moments in time would be a dream for many of us. But then one thing in my mind  was shouting at me, letting me know that this would be my answer. I would love to spend one day, one week, one year with Mother Teresa.
She didn't do what she did to win peoples approval.
She didn't do what she did for political gain.
She didn't do what she did to move up the ranks for a career.
She had an unadulterated love of people in her heart that might never be rivaled in our life time.
She was fortunate to touch so many lives but I want to applaud the millions of people who do go above and beyond in their everyday lives, and like Mother Teresa, don't expect anything back.
Kindness can never be overdone in my book.

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”

Fiestaware

I have a bit of an obsession with glass. I'm not particular about what form it takes either. Let's talk about Fiestaware shall we.
I first fell in love with it 20 years ago at a bohemian type B&B where I was staying.  We were sitting outside under a beautiful green market umbrella with an  array of colored napkins and mix and match glasses and out comes breakfast on Fiestaware. I'm not sure whether I was drooling over the dishes or the homemade blueberry pancakes....probably both. My plate was pink...how did she know that was my favorite color?......actually I have many favorite colors but I was pleased it was pink.
So my daughter in law (the Kindle giver) found 4 dinner plates at a thrift store recently and then proceeded to ask me if I wanted them. Duh....Yeah! So it began. I am slowly (painfully slow actually) purchasing sets. I marvel at it every day when I see them sitting in our hutch. Oh Joy! Can they really be mine?! Oh yes they are!
My poor husband tho.....the whole mix and match thing....he just doesn't get it.... yet.
He still wants bowls and plates to match...poor thing. He'll come around eventually.
