Red Truck & a Tree

Dear Husband is always ready for the quick turnarounds to get a picture.
Typical day of finishing up Christmas errands and since
I tend to take the "scenic way" instead of the main roads
This is what we saw!

Quick turn around and look what we saw!
A truck with a tree!

Mophie

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet
This was the first thing I thought when I realized that I had forgotten to take my Mophie out of my pocket before I put my fleece in the laundry.
But I thought... why not.
I put it in a baggie of rice and tried not to think about it for 24 hours.
Could I live without it?
Of course, but I do use it alot and it was a "gift" when I purchased my phone.

It works perfectly!
Grateful I am

Watermelon

Two of my grand kids gave me plants and one was a watermelon.
 I have never grown these
(tho I am wondering "why didn't I")
and when I went to check on them....look at this!
How cute!

April Snow

I will not even mention snow in this post.
I am ignoring the 5-8 inches expected and that's that.

A reminder it will be like this again soon

Compliments of Miss Susie

I'm not sure how the pix of Portillo's Chocolate Cake slipped in to the pictures

Easter Bunnies

We have Easter Bunnies!!
Well we have bunnies born close to Easter....same thing right??
They carried on thru the 4 inches of snow we had and are thriving.....all 6 of them.
Dear husband named one of them Dora because she leaves the nest every day
to go exploring and comes back to report to her siblings every night.

It just doesn't get much cuter than this!

On the bottom right is their nest and they hop up inside the grass for the day

Waiting for Spring

I'm waiting for Spring to arrive
Technically it did this week.
I'm waiting for the ground to dry out
Technically 1/2 of the back yard is almost dry
I'm waiting for that lush spring green grass
However the buds on the trees are huge and will start to open soon.
I'm waiting for my daffodils to bloom...well... I would settle seeing them sprout.
I'm waiting for no winter coat weather.
I actually love my winter coat.

But the Robins are back!
I even love them when they start singing @ 4am
And I was able to open the windows a bit today
I also started my tomato and pepper seeds today.

The end is in sight!

Greek Soup - Avgolemeno

I LOVE Avgolemeno Soup.
We have a Greek restaurant nearby and they have the very best, but in lieu of going out, my dear Greek friend gave me a can of this wonderful lemon soup and it's delicious.
I think this just became one of my comfort foods in this cold weather.
(I squeezed a bit of fresh lemon juice in it too)

Try it..you'll like it!

Quiet Time

Today I’m taking time to regroup. It was a mentally busy and exhausting week and tho I am good at keeping stress at bay I didn't do as well this week. So this morning I’m enjoying the blissful quiet of being home, and instead of gulping down my coffee and rushing off to work, I’m taking time to enjoy it. Miss Eleanor and I are lounging for a bit before the tasks of the the day begin.

My to do list for the day is long (but when isn't it)
If I don’t accomplish everything.....
I have Scarlett O’Hara’s mindset.
“I’ll think about it tomorrow “

White Lily Flour

I was reading an article about how to make light fluffy biscuits in the New York Times.
Bear in mind that I have made biscuits multiple times to literally throw all of them out.
They were not light and fluffy. I have recipes that tell me that they will be but indeed they aren't.
My recipes call for White Lily Flour and in my ignorance just used what I had on hand.
Then I read the article.....all flour is not created equally!
I need White Lily!
It's available in many places or should I say used to be available until the eye-opening article came out in the Times.  I can order it online but it would cost slightly less than my mortgage payment.
I was thinking of asking my friend in South Carolina to send me some.
I was thinking of getting it hopefully when I was in Florida but it probably wouldn't make it thru security.
~~Sigh~~

I'm not giving up tho.
I hesitate to tell Dear Husband we have to go on a road trip to buy flour to make biscuits
.....and he really doesn't even like biscuits.

Flamingo Fiestaware

My DIL finds the best stuff!
She purchased this for resale then decided I should have it.
Thank you!!!!
So of course I said yes tho I literally have no where to put it but I simply couldn't say no.
I love the flamingo color and they are pieces I don't have and will use.
I can see French bread on the yellow plate and the bowl holds the perfect amount of everything.
The small bowls are just too adorable for words.

Quilt Fabric~~Future Quilts

I am still cleaning
I am still getting rid of alot of things I no longer need or want
I am finding things that...
well, I didn't forget I had them
but I haven't thought about them for a long time.
Like this fabulous quilt fabric.

Golden Books Fabric!
The Pokey Little Puppy was always my favorite.

I want to make a baby quilt with the vintage-look fabric

I fell in love with this one.
?Do kiddos even play this anymore?

Ok...not a clue....
but it's Paris fabric so I had to have it.
Trust me I have more......

2018 Went by so Fast!

!!!2018 went by so quickly!!!

This was the mantra at work for the entire year...old and young alike and I was one of them.
However the last 2 months were a blur for me.

All in all it was a good year with some bumps in the road that we weathered well.

We had lot of family time which for me was the highlight of 2018.
My dear sister came to visit from Denver.
We were able to go to South Korea to visit our son and family.
I'm still employed....there has been ALOT of "consolidating of jobs" at my company so grateful is an understatement.
So thank you to dear husband, my family and wonderful friends far and wide.
I love you all more than you could ever know.

Life is good.
